On February 11-22, students of three Chinese universities – Shanghai Maritime University, Liaocheng University, and Jilin University – attended a winter school held at the Institute of International Relations WNPiSM UW. The classes were given by Ms. Paulina Potasińska from the POLONICUM Center (Polish culture and language) and prof. Edward Haliżak (European and national identities in the EU), amb. Tomasz Łukaszuk (career in diplomacy and diplomatic relations), dr hab. Andrzej Szeptycki (European integration) and dr hab. Rafał Ulatowski (global political economy) from the Institute.
After classes, students took part in additional activities including a visit to the Royal Castle, a visit to the parliament and a meeting with a senator, a meeting with a councillor in the Warsaw City Council in the Palace of Culture and Science, visits to the Warsaw Uprising Museum and the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and a meeting with MEP Michał Boni. All the time student were accompanied by a mentor.
In the last days of the winter school, after completing classes at the university, the group went to Krakow, where they visited the Wawel Royal Castle and the Schindler’s Factory, and also went to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum in Oświęcim.
Next groups from Mexico, China and Japan will arrive in the summer.
