The Institute of European Studies, Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw invites You to participate in The Summer School “Problems of Contemporary Europe from the Perspective of Central and Eastern European Countries”. The school will take place between the 1st and 11th July 2018.
The Summer School is dedicated to the students of first and second cycle studies from Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania.
The aim of the Summer School is to observe the problems of contemporary Europe from the perspective of Central and Eastern European countries (ex. migration crisis, inter-state security, populism growth, dusk of liberal democracy, crisis in Ukraine, EU disintegration, relations with partners from outside EU), as well as mutual relations of countries in the region (“undemonizing”sensitive politically subjects, exchange of good practices in the field of historically difficult topics). Students will be given the opportunity to meet the Warsaw University experts and discuss the questions regarding the challenges standing before Europe, and to make a diagnosis of the main issues impeding common cooperation of Poland and its neighbours in economics, politics and culture, as well as to search for/develop the strategy how to level these problems.
Participants will attend lectures and training workshops.
The Summer School Program is filled with vast cultural attractions (sightseeing around Warsaw, museums, The Royal Castle in Warsaw)
Participation in the Summer School is free of charge. The University provides accommodation and all day catering. Nevertheless, the participants should cover the travel expenses on their own.
The school will be conducted in English.
The required documents:
– motivational letter in English, in which the candidate will address the theme of the summer school (1-3 points)
– the recommendation letter written by an academic (1-3 points)
– the arithmetic average of the marks obtained in the previous academic year (1-3 points)
– documented command of English at B2 level (2 points, knowledge of the language at level
B2 – 1 point, C – 2 points)

The decision on the participation in the Summer School will be taken by the Admission Committee. Up to 11 points can be obtained in the recruitment proceedings.

Upon the completion of the Summer School the participants will be given a Certificate confirming their participation.
