On November 16th 2012 a conference Development and Democracy in Asia: Quest for New Economic Order, organized by the Center for Contemporary India Research and Studies and the HumanDOC Foundation, took place in the Old University Library Building of University of Warsaw.
Opening remarks were given by Professor Wlodzimierz Lengauer, President of Research Council of the Centre of the Contemporary India Research and Studies, Dr Jakub Zajączkowski, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations for Research and International Cooperation, Dr Dorota Heidrich, a researcher from the Institute of International Relations and HumanDOC Foundation’s representative.
Participants of the first panel were Dr Jakub Zajączkowski, Dr Karina Jędrzejowska and Mr Nar Bahadur Bista (from Global College of Management). The panel was moderated by Dr Bogusław Zaleski. The presentations revolved around the topic theory and praxis of development in Asia.
The second panel’s moderator was Professor Włodzimierz Lengauer. This part of the conference was dedicated to case studies of development model in Asia. The speakers were: Dr Cherng Shin Ouyanga (Chungwa Institute of Economic Research), Professor Karan Thagunna (Kathmandu University), Professor Ashwami Sharma (University of Delhi) and Mr. Tetsuo Hayashi.
After each panel questions from the audience were asked and a lively discussion between participants took place. Closing remarks were given by Dr. Bogusław Zaleski.
